As someone who works remote, coffee shops are my sweet escape. I will simply go insane if I spend the whole day inside my own home staring at my laptop, so a great way to switch up my atmosphere is going to a cozy coffee shop.
And, recently I spent 2 full months on Oahu where I did a TON of coffee shop hopping. Whether you are looking for a mid day pick me up, a spot to hang out with friends, or a new place to do some work . . . these coffee shops are definitely worth checking out.
These Oahu coffee shops are some of the best that I've ever been to. . . and I have been to SO many.
Learn about what each of these coffee shops have to offer from atmosphere, coffee options, parking arrangements, seating selection, and more!
P.S. if you are going planning a trip to Hawaii, then you don't want to miss out on the ultimate Hawaii bucket list.
Oahu Coffee Shops
1. Surfers Coffee
Surfers Coffee is the #1 coffee shop on Oahu (in my opinion). The space is decorated extremely well with tons of art, vintage signs, surf graphics, and it has a couple of TVs with the surf channel playing.
Seating: There is a variety of seating options from bar stools, tables, couches, and sofa chairs.
Parking: There is only street parking, which is limited . . . and as tempting as it may be, do not park in the nearby empty lots (you will be towed).
Coffee: You can get any of your basic coffee options here, as well as their specialty coffees. I recommend the white wash iced coffee - macadamia nut, white chocolate, cold brew.
Atmosphere: Casual, laid back, moderate noise level, a mix of people working and chatting
Location: 63 Kamehameha Hwy Wahiawa, Hawaii 96786

2. Rise & Grind Coffee
This coffee shop quickly became my go to spot, especially since it was fairly close to where I was staying. Overall, it has a very cozy vibe with a modern, tropical style. My favorite part of Rise & Grind is the peaceful back patio space that is full of lush green plants that make it feel very tropical.
Seating: Indoor and outdoor seating options include couches, sofa chairs, bar style tables, and round standard tables.
Parking: There is paid meter street parking nearby (around the corner of the Walgreens) or garage parking available (metered 75 cents per hour) behind the shop at: 25 Aulike St. Kailua Hawaii.
Coffee: The coffee at Rise & Grind is by far my favorite. I Highly recommend the "Hawaiian" - Macnut, Coconut, Vanilla. Not to mention, the adorable round shaped to-go cups that the coffee comes in!
Atmosphere: Fairly quiet, most people working
Location: 22 Oneawa St in Kailua Hawaii
3. Chadlou's Coffee Roasters
Chadlou's Coffee Roasters is the first coffee shop that I went to when I first moved to the island, so needless to say it has a special place in my heart. Before, saying anything else you must know that Chadlou's only has outdoor seating, so if you need to be indoors then this is not the spot for you. However, Oahu has the BEST weather most of the time, so the wrap around porch with umbrella covered tables are a comfy spot!
Seating: Outdoor seating, small tables for two, covered with umbrellas, wrap around styled porch
Parking: Metered street parking (75 cents/hour), typically easy to find a parking spot especially in the mornings
Coffee: You can find all of your basic coffee and tea options, as well as a variety of specialty coffee options like the Honu Latte - latte with caramel & macadamia nut flavored cane sweetener.
Atmosphere: A moderate level of traffic noise (outdoor seating near road), some people are working and some are just chatting over coffee. Ideal if you have some "mindless busy work", I would not recommend if you need a quiet space to focus.
Location: 45 Hoolai St Suite B, Kailua, HI 96734

4. Planteom
If you love plants and coffee, then look no further for your match made in heaven. Technically this is a plant nursery, however there is a coffee shop tucked away in the back that is the most perfect spot to study or get some work done. It is no secret that plants are very calming, so when you combine a plant nursery with a study spot you get the best type of atmosphere.
Seating: A moderate amount of seating with several tables and a bar like seating by the windows.
Parking: Planteom is located upstairs, so you will have to enter up the ramp (2 way, one car at a time) to reach the outdoor parking area. There are only a couple of designated spots for Planteom, so if it is full I recommend street parking then walking up to the second floor.
Coffee: Since this is a plant nursery, the coffee menu is limited. However, they do specialize in lavender flavored coffee, which is delicious if you are a lavender lover.
Atmosphere: Majority of people are working, there are a handful of college students. Overall, it is a very quiet space that has a calm and peaceful environment.
Location: 3457 Waialae Ave, Unit 203 Honolulu, HI 96816

5. Bizia Surf & Coffee
Bizia Surf & Coffee is where a surf shop meets coffee shop. Similar to Planteom, the coffee shop is a "special addition" to the well established surf shop - Bizia Surf. This Hawaii based sustainable surfboard company has a mission to create a greener surf industry by producing performance wood surfboards. With that said, the natural wood aesthetic of this tucked away coffee shop is extremely inviting.
Seating: Majority of seating is located up stairs, there are several tables that can seat about 2 to 4 people each. If you prefer to sit at the coffee bar counter, there are a few barstools on the first level as well as a small lounge section to the right when you first walk in.
Parking: The unique part about this spot is that it is located in an industrial warehouse space, so it has a normal parking lot with plenty of spots.
Coffee: All of your basic go-to coffee options are available as well as seasonal specials such as the snickerdoodle latte and pumpkin spice latte for the fall season.
Atmosphere: Fairly low noise level with majority of people working upstairs. Ideal for anyone looking to have a small business meeting, study date, or hangout session after surfing.
Location: 401 N Cane St A-2, Wahiawa, HI 96786
