Hawaii Travel Essentials
1. Water Shoes
Water shoes are extremely important for your Hawaii vacation and it is one of the most overlooked items. There are many locations in Hawaii that has sharp rocks such as Shark's Cove where water shoes will save your feet from any cuts!
2. Bug Spray
If you are planning to go on any hikes during your Hawaii trip, then having a small bottle of bug spray handy will save you from being eaten up by mosquitos.
It is especially crucial for those areas that are wet and humid (typically in the jungle side) where the mosquitos can be worse during certain times of the year.

3. Small Hiking Backpack
Some of the best parts of Hawaii include the numerous hiking trails. With that said, you always need to be prepared for your hikes, which may require you to be out there for a couple of hours.Â
So, having a small hiking backpack to carry your water bottle, phone, bug spray, etc. makes it 10X easier.Â
4. Waterproof Phone Pouch
Depending on your itinerary for your Hawaii trip you may be participating in a handful of water activities. One of the most popular excursions on Oahu includes kayaking, which is why I highly recommend having a waterproof phone pouch.

7. Waterproof Speaker
This is one of those travel essentials that is totally up to your preference. If you enjoy jamming out to music during your beach days, then this waterproof speaker is a must.
8. Hiking Shoes
If you are a frequent hiker, then you may want to invest in a reliable pair of hiking shoes. Personally, I just wore my regular tennis shoes, which worked just fine.
However, if you decide to go on some of the more rigorous trails, then having the proper hiking shoes will give you that extra grip you need.
9. Reusable Grocery Bags
You are going to need to bring your own reusable grocery bags when you go shopping on your trip, unless you want to pay for the provided bags (but you should always try to bring your reusable ones).
I recommend these light-weight grocery bags because they are best for packing in your suitcase, plus they can double as a beach bag!

10. Light-Weight Beach Towel
You simply cannot go to Hawaii without a beach towel. It is non-negotiable (in my opinion).
You are most likely going to be spending a ton of time at the beach, so having a super light-weight beach towel to pack in your suitcase is super important.
11. Mini Portable Fan
Yes, a portable hand fan is ESSENTIAL. Trust me, when you start feeling hot and sticky on a long hike this fan will save you. It is so small that you can even keep it in your pocket!
